The City of Covington, founded in 1813, is a charming Southern community nestled among three rivers. An eclectic mix of boutiques, art galleries, specialty shops and restaurants line the downtown streets. Special care has been taken to ensure the conservation of Covington’s historic homes and buildings while also allowing for the modernization of its infrastructure. Stroll around town and enjoy their rich history.

Abita Brewing Company

The brewery produces over 151,000 barrels of beers in its state-of-the-art brewing facility, as well as more than 9,000 barrels of root beer. Guided tours of the facility are offered, with each tour lasting around thirty minutes and including a tasting of some of Abita’s brews. Guests can learn about the brewing process, the company’s history, and the beer.

Cafe Du Monde

From beignets to café au lait, Café Du Monde is a New Orleans tradition. Bring part of our New Orleans tradition to your home. The original Cafe Du Monde started out as a coffee stand that was founded back in the year 1862 inside of the French Market in New Orleans. The Cafe Du Monde in Covington, Louisiana, provides a menu that includes dark roasted coffee, fresh squeezed orange juice, and beignets.

Children's Museum of St. Tammany

The mission of the Children’s Museum of St. Tammany is to inspire children to create, explore, and imagine within an interactive and fun learning environment. Children can have hands-on fun at the diner exhibit and the supermarket. Other exhibits include a magnetic ball wall, a climbing wall, and a fun exhibit where children can see what it’s like to construct their own roller coaster.

Be Sure Not to Miss This

Cruise your bike under a wonderful tree canopy past beautiful homes on streets laid out prior to the invention of the automobile. Take a Sunday stroll in downtown past 100+ year old buildings and 100+ year old businesses – on streets General Andrew Jackson inspected on his way to the Battle of New Orleans. Learn about family histories whose stories begin in the 50’s … the 1850’s. Picnic and play on the beaches of Bogue Falaya Wayside Park or slip your kayak into the river’s waters and relax. Tap your feet to the tunes at the Farmer’s Market or Feed Store maybe cut a rug at the Trailhead or in one of our clubs. Join the debate over whose red beans and rice are best on Mondays, who makes the best po-boy, the best steak or the best seafood platter. Be prepared to defend your position.

They enjoy over 100 live music performances annually – Every Wednesday and Saturday at our Farmer’s Market, every Thursday evening in April and October at the Trailhead or Peter Atkins Park, bluegrass on Fall Saturdays at the Feed Store, Sunset at the Landing Concerts at the Columbia Street Landing every third Friday from March through October, music festivals at Bogue Falaya Park as well as the most popular acts from the surrounding area playing our clubs on weekend nights. Don’t put away your dancing shoes.
